Ciro G. Randazzo, MD, MPH, FAANS

Dr. Ciro Randazzo is a fellowship-trained and Board-Certified Neurosurgeon and partner at IGEA Brain, Spine & Orthopedics. He is dual-trained in open neurosurgery and neuroendovascular treatments including minimally invasive aneurysm and spine procedures. His focus is equally balanced between cerebral aneurysms and stroke, spinal disorders, cranial and spinal tumor surgeries and neurosurgical trauma. He is also an expert in acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke treatment, including mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke.

Prior to joining IGEA Brain, Spine & Orthopedics, Dr. Randazzo was Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.  By combining his passion for practicing medicine and his entrepreneurial spirit, he spearheaded the establishment of a comprehensive neuroscience center at AtlantiCare for which he served as Division Director.

He completed his neuroendovascular fellowship in 2010 and his neurosurgery residency in 2009 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. Randazzo received both his medical degree, as well as a Masters of Public Health, from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).

He is an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Randazzo has published on the current trends and breakthroughs in neurosurgical issues, including in the world-renowned journal “Stroke”. His written work has focused on the treatment of intracranial aneurysms using coiling, stents and flow diversion including the Pipeline™ embolization device. He also offers presentations on new methods for treating neurological, spinal and neurovascular conditions. He has lectured nationally and internationally.

He is an active member of several national societies and local groups such as the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Medical and Neurosurgical Societies. He is also a Board Member of the New Jersey Doctor Patient Alliance.

Dr. Randazzo serves as the Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. He is also actively engaged in teaching Neurosurgical residents at St. Barnabas Medical Center where he is also the Section Chief of Neurovascular Surgery.

He is happily married to his wife Lana and they have three teenage children.
