Even bending your head 15 degrees can place 27 pounds of pressure on your back, while bending it at 30 and 45 degrees can place pressures of 40 and 49 pounds, respectively.

The researcher additionally revealed that the increased stress the cervical spine is submitted to can lead to “early wear, tear, degeneration and possible surgeries.” According to the studies, proper posture decreases the amount of spinal stress, but this isn’t the only benefit of good alignment.
