IGEA Brain, Spine & Orthopedics Patient Testimonial: Orlando Cueto

Rob Smither • May 05, 2021

With locations throughout New Jersey and New York, IGEA Brain, Spine & Orthopedics is a highly sought-after practice for patients in need of spine surgery. One of those patients is NJ resident Orlando Cueto, who is a retired driver and was referred to us when his back pain and difficulty walking would not respond to chiropractic treatment. Here, we take a closer look at Orlando’s success story and how our spine specialists can help patients in similar situations.

FROM DIFFICULTY WALKING TO REGAINING MOBILITY

Orlando’s story begins when he first started experiencing trouble walking. At the time, he was routinely seeing a chiropractor, but his condition was not improving. “One day, the chiropractor watched me as I came out of the elevator – I was dragging my left foot and holding my arm to my waist. I couldn’t put my arm down,” Orlando explains.

At his next visit, the chiropractor met with Orlando and let him know that he thought he should see a spine surgeon. “He told me he couldn’t do anything for me that would help my condition,” says Orlando. “After seeing the spine surgeon and doing an MRI, I was referred to Dr. Ciro G. Randazzo at IGEA Brain, Spine & Orthopedics.” After meeting with Dr. Randazzo, it was revealed that Orlando had disc issues in both his cervical and lumbar spine. “He told me, ‘you need surgery yesterday,’” recalls Orlando.

Surgery was the most viable treatment plan for Orlando, who first underwent a cervical disc procedure in June 2017. That successful surgery was followed by two lumbar disc procedures, which also yielded positive results for his condition. His procedures were followed by physical therapy to help Orlando regain strength, improve mobility, and prevent future re-injury.

“When I first came to IGEA Brain, Spine & Orthopedics, I couldn’t walk, and Dr. Randazzo got me walking,” says Orlando. “After these surgeries, I’m feeling very good – I’m grateful for everything Dr. Randazzo and the team have done for me.”
